About the Artist

Gary Giordano was born in New Jersey and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Gary grew up immersed inthe rich artistic heritage in this area and New York City.

After studying Fine Art at Kutztown University and the Edward Hoper House in Nyack, New York, he apprenticed under several wellknown Lambertville artists.

Today Gary can be found at his Lambertville gallery which he opened in 2009, painting in a gestural style inspired by the New York School of Abstract Expressionists. He paints in acrylic and oil on unstretched canvas. Gary describes his style of painting as, “mainly nonrepresentational with a focus on emotion, and gesture. Art concepts are used to define perceptions of the world around us, and the feelings we experience in response to that world.”

Rather than try to reproduce the three dimensional reality around us onto a two dimensional surface, Gary uses the act of painting to create reality. The emotion and physical movements are the reality that is transferred to the surface of the canvas.

Gary draws inspiration from the world around and the world within. He believes that “Balance, Value, Harmony, Motion, Rhythm, Unity, Acceptance, Relationships, Uncontrolled Action, Inaction…the concepts apply to life as well as Art, they are connected.

"The power of my work is not only the visual and emotional energies that fall onto the canvas, but it is also the spontaneity of the process."
